Who we are
Tessera Park LLC runs Tessera: the Tessera Park app, app.tesserapark.com and tesserapark.com. Questions about your data go to support@tesserapark.com.
What we keep
Your account: the email you sign in with, your name, a profile photo if you add one, your school, and your permit. Your profile photo is stored at a link that is hard to guess.
What you do in Tessera: the lot reports you make, where you parked (the lot, and the GPS point if your phone gave one, or the spot you moved your car pin to), the lots you save, the alerts you set, reviews, and feedback you send.
If you verify a school email, we keep the verified school address and when it was verified.
If you turn on notifications, we keep your phone or browser's notification address so we can reach it.
When something breaks, we keep a crash report or error report: the page, what went wrong, and the kind of browser or phone you used. We keep reports for up to 90 days, then delete them; if you delete your account, we remove its link from those reports right away.
If you ask about a university pilot, we keep the name, organization, role, email and message you send so our team can reply.
Our team also keeps invitation email addresses and notes in a private tracker to manage outreach.
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email, school and whether you asked to hear about Tessera at your school or on Google Play. A referral link can connect your signup to the signup that shared it. For Google Play signups, we send a confirmation and the launch email you asked for, with no other marketing. Email support@tesserapark.com if you want your waitlist entry removed.
If a campus staff member adds you to a roster, we keep your campus role. Our internal staff-action history includes roster access changes and is kept after account deletion for accountability.
Our host keeps standard logs (IP address, browser type, pages opened) to keep Tessera secure and working.
Cookies: only the ones that keep you signed in and remember your school, language and display settings. No ad cookies.
Your location
Tessera uses your location to show where you are on the map, to find your lot, to check you are at a lot when you report it, and to save where you parked. Once you allow it, the map uses it each time you open Tessera. You can turn it off in your phone or browser settings anytime.
The location saved with a park (the GPS point or your car pin) is erased after 90 days. The lot stays, so the campus picture stays complete.
Automatic parking is coming to the app. It is off until you turn it on, and the app tells you what it does before your phone asks. When it is on, it only notices you near parking lots, deletes the raw location points within 24 hours, and never keeps a trail of where you drive between lots. You can stop it anytime with the Pause switch in Me. Only anonymous lot counts come out of it.
What we share
How full each lot is, and when it was last reported, is public on the map and on tesserapark.com. It never shows who reported it.
Universities may receive lot facts: how busy a lot is, when it fills, how long cars stay. Never from fewer than 5 cars, never trips, never names or emails.
We use these services to run Tessera: Supabase (database and sign in), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), Google if you sign in with Google, and your browser's notification service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft) if you turn notifications on. Mapbox draws the map and gives directions and search: it receives map requests, your location when you ask for a route, and text you type in search. Mapbox counts map loads; Tessera has turned off Mapbox's separate performance-metrics collection. If you buy from our shop, Stripe takes the payment and Printful ships the order. They handle your data only to do that work for us.
When you ask for weather, our server sends the National Weather Service a map cell rounded to about 11 km. Our server reads the University of South Florida's (USF) public garage feed to show its reported counts; that feed request does not include your account or location. When a public campus page enters or leaves Tessera's search index, we send its URL to IndexNow, which shares the update with participating search engines.
No ads. We do not sell your personal information.
Keeping it safe
Your data is encrypted when it travels and where it is stored. You sign in with a one time code or with Google; student accounts have no password.
If a breach ever affects your personal information, we tell you within 30 days, as Florida law requires.
Deleting your data
Delete your account anytime in the app: Me, then Delete account. Or email support@tesserapark.com and we will do it for you.
Your email, name, photo, school and reviews are erased right away, and you are signed out for good. Your lot reports and parks stay as anonymous records with nothing linking them to you.
Crash and error reports are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted. If you delete your account, we remove its link from those reports right away.
You can get a copy of your data anytime: email support@tesserapark.com, or in the Tessera Park app go to Me, then Privacy, then Download my data.
Who can use Tessera
You must be 18 or older, the same as our Terms. If we learn we have data from someone younger, we delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app the next time you open the map. The version date at the top always shows the current one.
